Continuing its support of national development and investment, Toyota Iraq participated in the Iraqi Business Summit: Al-Faw Port, Iraq’s Gateway to Investment, held at the Grand Al-Faw Port in Basra. The summit witnessed the presence of senior Iraqi government representatives, port experts, and leading figures from the industrial and investment sectors. Toyota Iraq’s participation underscored its dedication to advancing the national vision of transforming Al-Faw Port and the Development Road into a regional logistics hub connecting East and West, positioning Iraq as a new strategic player in the global trade arena.
The summit opened with a series of discussions and technical presentations that showcased innovative insights, followed by structured B2B meetings between representatives of the public and private sectors. Participants highlighted advancements in port automation, railway integration, logistics solutions, and digital transformation in supply chain management, giving the summit a practical and results-oriented dimension that fostered meaningful partnerships and real investment opportunities.
Serving as an integrated platform, the summit presented comprehensive investment perspectives and development opportunities across port and infrastructure sectors. It emphasized the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships, expanding national capabilities, and developing the value chains of Al-Faw Port, covering every phase of goods and services movement from port arrival to end-user delivery, including storage, transport, logistics, and digital processing. Each stage adds value, efficiency, speed, and safety, reflecting a national ambition to build a balanced and sustainable economy that links ports with industrial zones and solidifies Iraq’s role as a regional economic and investment hub.
Drawing on its global expertise in transport and infrastructure, Toyota Iraq highlighted a range of advanced services that align with this national direction, encompassing intelligent logistics solutions, reliable transportation, and high-efficiency operational management systems. The company also shared successful case studies in operational monitoring and process optimization, reaffirming that investing in infrastructure is the true pathway toward a balanced and prosperous economy.
The opening session featured remarks from key national leaders that embodied Iraq’s ambition and spirit of collaboration. H.E Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, Iraq’s Minister of Transport, stated: “The Grand Al-Faw Port represents the beating heart of the Development Road Project. It will create over 100,000 direct jobs and 1.6 million indirect opportunities, contributing to economic diversification and reducing reliance on oil.”
Mr. Yosei Tawara, Chief Development Officer at Toyota Iraq, also commented: “Toyota is building an integrated ecosystem of products, services, and infrastructure that aligns with Iraq’s aspirations and meets the needs of its people. Our goal is to deliver the highest levels of service and quality in every city we serve and be ‘The Best in Town’. That is why we continue to invest in quality, people, and the future.”
Dr. Nasser Al-Asadi, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Transport and the Development Road, added: “What was once a dream has now become a reality. Thanks to the determination of the current government led by the Prime Minister, and the significant efforts of the Minister of Transport and the Ports Authority, this project now stands as a major achievement on both Arab and global economic fronts. Despite the challenges, the will to accomplish prevailed, and success has been achieved.”
Dr. Eng. Farhan Al-Fartousi, General Manager of the General Company for Ports of Iraq, noted: “The Development Road will connect Al-Faw Port to Western markets through Turkey, and around eleven global companies have been selected to participate in the project’s operation.”
Furthermore, Mr. Mohammed Al-Najjar, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Investment and Chairman of the Iraq Development Fund, emphasized: “The project encompasses Al-Faw Port and the Development Road across eight main sectors: rail and highway transport, energy, electricity, internet connectivity, and the creation of smart cities and complexes. Many Asian companies are eager to invest in Iraq due to its proximity and its role in easing global pressure on Chinese products.”
Dr. Ali Wajih, CEO of A’mal Company, remarked: “This is a national project built to global standards, making Al-Faw Port a gateway to growth, reducing transport time, and strengthening Iraq’s role in regional and global connectivity.”
The summit concluded with a shared acknowledgment that the Grand Al-Faw Port Project is more than an infrastructure initiative; it is Iraq’s economic gateway to the world. Attendees commended both government and private sector efforts in overcoming challenges and turning vision into tangible progress.
